The Grand Guatemala Expedition — 14 Days,

6,490 USD

A two-week journey through Guatemala’s soul - 1800 km, >60% Trails

This is the ultimate Whispering Trails adventure — a 14-day motorcycle expedition that immerses you fully into the landscapes, history, and culture of Guatemala.

From the volcanic shores of Lake Atitlán to the remote eco-ranch of Unicornio Azul, the crystalline waters of Cenote Candelaria and Laguna Brava, the jungle lagoon of Lachúa, and the legendary turquoise pools of Semuc Champey, the Mayan ruins and the forgotten railway lines, lush pineapple fields to Caribbean beaches — this ride is an odyssey of landscapes and cultures.

Designed for intermediate to advanced riders, this is a very complete motorcycle adventure: rugged terrain, breathtaking views, and authentic encounters with Guatemala’s living heritage.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival & Transfer to Antigua Pickup at La Aurora International Airport and private transfer to the colonial jewel of Antigua Guatemala. Welcome dinner and overnight in a boutique hotel.

Day 2 – Exploring Antigua & Motorcycle Briefing Morning walking tour of Antigua’s cobblestone streets, churches, and markets. Afternoon motorcycle introduction and safety briefing to prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 3 – Antigua to Lake Atitlán (Panajachel) We ride west, circling the slopes of Volcán de Fuego, crossing over 10 rivers, and tackling rugged trails until we descend to Lake Atitlán, framed by volcanoes. Overnight in Panajachel.

Glimpses of Antigua

Day 4 – Panajachel to Unicornio Azul (Huehuetenango) The route takes us into the highlands, to Unicornio Azul, an eco-ranch surrounded by mountain landscapes, perfect for starry skies and quiet nights.

Day 5 – Unicornio Azul to Hacienda Neva Escocia Adventure deepens as we ride into one of Guatemala’s hidden gems — Cenote Candelaria, a crystalline sinkhole surrounded by limestone cliffs and jungle. After a refreshing swim, rewarding the day’s off-road challenges, the group will head to Hacienda Nueva Escocia, an elegant colonial estate nestled among rolling green hills few kilometres away from Laguna Brava. This historic hacienda, with its cobblestone courtyards, sweeping verandas, and timeless charm, sets the perfect tone for the days ahead.

Day 6 – Hacienda Nueva Escocia to Laguna Brava Our fifth day will be dedicated to explore the mystical Laguna Brava, a turquoise mountain lake near the borderlands. Remote, pristine, and sacred to the local communities, this stop is one of the most untouched destinations in the country. In the afternoon will ride back to Hacienda Nueva Escocia to spend the night.

Day 7 – Laguna Brava to Laguna Lachúa Through jungle terrain and remote trails, we arrive at Laguna Lachúa, known as the “mirror of heaven” for its perfectly circular blue waters.

Day 8 – Lachúa to Semuc Champey We push through the heart of the mountains to Semuc Champey, Guatemala’s most famous natural wonder, with its emerald pools and limestone bridges.

Day 9 – Semuc Champey Adventure Day No riding — today is for immersion. Swim in the pools, explore caves, or go rafting down the Cahabón River. A day to rest, discover, and connect.

Day 10 – Semuc Champey to Río Dulce We descend into the lush Izabal region, reaching Río Dulce, where the jungle meets the Caribbean. Evening on the riverbanks.

Day 11 – Río Dulce to Morales (via Punta de Palma & Puerto Barrios) Morning stop at Punta de Palma Beach for a Caribbean swim. From there, we join the old Ferrocarril railway at Puerto Barrios and follow its historic route inland to Morales.

Day 12 – Morales to El Rancho (Ferrocarril Trail) We continue along the abandoned railway, crossing bridges and single-track trails, reliving Guatemala’s forgotten rail history until we reach El Rancho.

Day 13 – El Rancho to Mixco Viejo & Return to Antigua The final riding day takes us to the ancient Mayan ruins of Mixco Viejo, where we explore the citadel before making the last ride back to Antigua. A farewell dinner closes the journey.
